Silver Spring resident Abraham Luna Perez, 26, has been arrested in connection to Borja-Cardona's death late last month after his death was ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police were called to the 9300 block of Piney Branch Road, where they found Borja-Cardona, also of Silver Spring, with trauma to his body.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The subsequent autopsy determined the manner of death to be a homicide, and Luna Perez, who was roommates with Borja-Cardona, was identified as a suspect and he was arrested over the weekend by local and federal investigators.
Luna Perez was charged with first-degree murder at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. He was held without bond.
